ticketeer

Easy to grasp and a delight to use.

Ticketeer is a project management service designed to make the entire project team want to actively use the service in order to empower cooperation and make better projects.

The user focus shows in many ways. For example in the next to unnoticeable page loads, an interface where everything is just a click or two away and the fact that there's no cookies, third party scripts or user tracking going on.

The ticketeer client is built mainly around Vue.js and Socket.io and is coupled with a Node.js back-end and a lightning fast REST API custom built in PHP.

ticketeer - News and articles

Here's a Wordpress blog with a custom made, minimalistic theme. The blog serves the purpouse of providing in depth guides and news and also to drive organic traffic to ticketeer.

This was also a test to see if a site using only Googles AMP framework would perform well. Sadly, the size of the AMP framework itself made it impossible to score a perfect result in the Lighthouse benchmark. However the site feels quick and the framework was easy to work with.

The biggest challenge with this project is writing good, SEO-friendly content.

ticketeer API

ticketeer - API

A lightning fast REST API custom built in PHP

All data management in ticketeer is handled by the ticketeer API. It's a REST API custom built in PHP from the ground up to serve boards of all sizes with close to no delay. It's the backbone of all data transactions and handles everything from database queries to integrations with third party services.

The API is also publicly available so that anyone who wants to integrate with ticketeer can perform any actions the official client can. Expect the documentation to be available some time 2024.

Since a large portion of ticketeers user base is located in Sweden, the entire chain of data management is hosted on AWS using only services within the eu-north-1 (Swedish) data center.

Hvalfjell logo symbol

Andwhy AB - logotype

A happy golden ratio whale and a mountain.

A logotype commissioned by Hvalfjell to depict "a happy whale and a mountain" as the owner is a both kind and happy man and Hvalfjell roughly translates to whale mountain.

Three ideas were presented and the one with the whale doing a backflip (out of happiness) over a mountain in the background quickly became the favourite.

The logotype was first roughly sketched by hand and then refined into a golden ratio vector image using Affinity Designer on iPad. The image illustrates how the golden ratio was applied when making the logo.

Web video encoder

Getting videos to play automatically on the web with as little delay as possible on all devices requires both a quite specific HTML implementation and correctly encoded videos.

This simple PowerShell script takes your high quality MP4 videos and encodes them with optimized settings to the following output:

Ideally you would provide either a H.264 or H.265 file depending on if you want legacy support or not. Then also an AV1 if you have the time to encode it or VP9 if you don't. You can also choose to provide both a H.264, H.265 and AV1 (or VP9) to make use the client gets the best possible version. Check out the HTML for the background video on this article for a working implementation example.

The Web video encoder is based on FFmpeg and can be downloaded and used under the same public license.
